~The Delivery of Little Eli~

This delivery was quite unexpected the way it turned out. I was at my Dr's app on the 13th of July (2 weeks b4 my due date, the 26th) and my water broke! I hurried to the hospital, and sat there for 2 hours with not much progress. When my Dr arrived, he said I was still dialating slowly, but that the babies head had come out of the birth canal! So they rolled in an Ultra sound machine & sure enough, little Eli had moved out of the birth canal, was no longer engaged (which he had been for the past 4 weeks after being breech for so long!) So, the Dr tried to move him (which hurt like heck...OMG!) and he did move down, but by the time I got back from going to the bathroom, he was right back to being transverse!!! We couldn't believe it! But, since he had the cord wrapped around his neck (& had the past 2 weeks) Dr. Watson thought that maybe Eli knew what he was doing becuase of the cord getting tight around his neck. So, he immediatley ordered a C-section. I was really nervous when I heard that, but I also felt an urgency to get the baby out asap. So, about 45 min later, little Eli was born. The cord was wrapped around his neck twice when they pulled him out of me, but he was perfectly fine. He had so much thick dark brown hair & was perfectly beautiful! The nurses & Dr's kept calling him a "good looking kid"! Being on the operating table was pretty hard for me becuase I couldn't hold him right away like I liked to & nurse him, but Austen was there the entire time with him, and I was so thakful for that. My head was spinning with so many different emotions from soo happy to worried about when I'd be able to feed Eli, to all the weird side affect from the spinal. I was begining to have a hard time breathing as they sewed me back up, so they had to give me oxygen, but other than that the surgery went well. I was so thankful for such an amazing Dr as Dr. Watson. The Lord really watched over this delivery & Eli arrived safe & sound! (well...sound for the most part!) Having a c-section was alot different & much harder than I expected, but at least they got the baby out safely! :)

  1. I had a c Section scare but ended up not needing it. I"m sorry that you had to go through that, but I'm glad that Eli came out ok.

  2. Wow, that's pretty scary that the cord was wrapped around his neck twice, how wonderful that you had a doctor who was in tune and brought that little guy safely into the world.
